Fracture Care
Fracture simply means a broken bone. There are several types of fractures including simple fractures where the bone remains in place. Displaced fractures means the bone is not aligned correctly. Open fractures means the skin is broken and this increases the risk of infection. Stress fractures happen from overuse injuries.
Fractures may be diagnosed by xray or MRI depending on the situation. Most fractures can be treated without surgery. Some require reduction- putting the bone back into alignment. Most fractures require some type of splint or cast. Fractures can take weeks to months to heal depending on the type and location of fracture.
