Concussion Treatment

A concussion is a type of brain injury caused by sudden movement damaging the brain cells.  Symptoms include:

  • Can’t recall events prior to or after a hit or fall

  • Appears dazed or stunned

  • Answers questions slowly

  • Loses consciousness

  • Mood or behavior changes

  • Headache or “pressure” in head

  • Nausea or vomiting

  • Balance or vision problems

  • Bothered by light or noise

  • Feeling sluggish, hazy, foggy

  • Confusion or memory problems

  • Just not feeling right

In Colorado, the law requires that coaches have education on how to recognize a concussion, a player is removed from play if a concussion is suspected and that the student athlete must be signed off by a medical professional before returning to play.
