Bone Health/ Osteoporosis
1 in 3 women over the age of 50 will suffer a fracture due to low bone density. The combined lifetime risk for hip, forearm and vertebral (spine) fracture is 40%- similar to the risk of heart disease. Up to 80% of those at high risk have already had a fracture and have gone untreated.

Healthy bone is constantly remodeling, breaking down and rebuilding. When new bone creation cannot keep up with bone destruction, osteoporosis occurs. Bone becomes weak and fractures happen easily.

People with low bone density do not have any warning signs. Osteoporosis accounts for many deaths, yet goes untreated even in patients who have had a fracture.
